Hello fellow food enthusiasts! Today, I’m diving into the world of sous vide cooking, with a special focus on a must-have kitchen gadget: the Anova Precision Vacuum Sealer Pro!

What is the Anova Precision Vacuum Sealer Pro?

The Anova Precision Vacuum Sealer Pro is a sleek, modern kitchen appliance that’s all about elevating your sous vide cooking game. Imagine a compact device, a robust vacuum pump, and a reliable sealing bar. It’s like the James Bond of kitchen gadgets – sophisticated, efficient, and oh-so-cool!

Why Sous Vide?

Sous vide, French for “under vacuum,” involves cooking food in a water bath at a precise temperature. This method ensures perfectly cooked meals every time. Think tender steaks, succulent chicken, and veggies bursting with flavor. The Anova Vacuum Sealer Pro is your trusty sidekick in this culinary adventure, locking in flavors and ensuring even cooking.

Pros of the Anova Vacuum Sealer Pro

Precision Sealing: Say goodbye to freezer burn and hello to longer-lasting freshness. This gadget seals your food airtight, maximizing flavor and texture. I actually use it more for vacuum sealing bulk purchases (ie – a massive package of pork chops from Costco), than for sous vide cooking, though, with pre-planning, that can be a 2-steps-in-1 process (see PRO TIP below).

User-Friendly: With its intuitive interface, even kitchen newbies can vacuum seal like pros.

Option to use bag rolls:  This is a really great feature.  While Anova sells a variety of fixed-size bags, the vacuum sealer also supports rolls, which means you can size the bag exactly.  Simply roll off the length that you need, cut it with the included cutter, seal one end, and then you’re ready to go.  Check out the variety of bags, and loads of other sous vide and vacuum sealer accessories, here!

Compact Design: It won’t hog your countertop space. Its stylish design also means you won’t want to hide it away.  This is a big PLUS.  My last vacuum sealer took up half of a very large kitchen work space.  This unit is less than 1/4th the size, but actually works better.  I really, really like the small footprint here.

Versatility: Not just for sous vide, it’s also a champion in food preservation – ideal for meal preppers and bulk buyers.

Any Cons?

Well, no product is perfect. The Anova Vacuum Sealer Pro is a bit of an investment compared to basic models. Also, if you’re not into sous vide or bulk food prep, it might be more than you need.

PRO TIP:  As mentioned above, we frequently buy in bulk and then individually vacuum seal portions. There’s only two of us, so we usually seal 2-3 pork chops, or steaks, or chicken breasts (you get the picture) in one package for cooking or sous vide later.  I’ve started pre-seasoning before vacuum sealing.  This allows me to just take a package from the freezer and drop it in the sous vide bath and I end up with perfectly cooked food a couple hours or so later.  So very quick and easy!  Just be sure to write a brief description of the contents and seasonings on the outside of the package.  This will prevent trying to figure it out from looking through the plastic later and you won’t end up with Mexican-spiced chicken sous vide for your Italian pasta.

Final Thoughts
