Hello, fellow food enthusiasts! Today, I’m diving into the world of sous-vide cooking with the Anova Precision Cooker Pro.

As someone who loves experimenting in the kitchen, I was eager to see if this gadget lives up to the hype.

Let’s break down the pros and cons and see what other culinary aficionados are saying about it.

The Pros of Anova Precision Cooker Pro

  • Precision is Key: The name doesn’t lie. This cooker allows for precise temperature control, which is crucial for sous-vide cooking. You can expect perfectly cooked steaks, tender vegetables, and much more.
  • Power and Efficiency: It heats water fast and maintains the temperature with impressive efficiency. This is great for those longer cooking processes like 72-hour short ribs.
  • Durability and Build: It feels sturdy and well-made. The stainless steel parts suggest it’s built to last, a significant plus for any kitchen gadget.
  • Anova’s precision interface is a walk in the park to dial in perfect temperatures. Much better than many outdated analog or difficult-to-read controls.

    Ease of Use: The digital interface is user-friendly, and it connects seamlessly with the Anova app. This is perfect for beginners or those intimidated by new kitchen tech. The Anova app is one of the best appliance interface apps I’ve used. It’s super easy to monitor, and keep a record of, your cook, make adjustments and is loaded with recipes from beginner to advanced.  It really is what an appliance interface app should be, unlike many of our other household appliance apps, which range from unusable to moderately functional.

  • Capacity: It can handle a large volume of water, making it ideal for cooking multiple portions at once – perfect for dinner parties. As mentioned below, check out the accessories on the Anova Website for some really cool, and super functional, containers.  While you can use just about anything that will hold water, these containers have a number of features that really make them worth the cost.
  • Super Cool Accessories:  Anova is the leader, in my opinion, of designing a complete suite of accessories to use with it’s cookers, vacuum sealers (check out my review of their pro level vacuum sealer here), and other top-of-the-line cooking products.

The Cons

  • Price: It’s on the pricier side. While the quality, and the awesome user interface, justifies the cost, it might not be the best choice for casual cooks.
  • Noise: Some users have noted it’s a bit noisier than its competitors, which could be a minor annoyance. That said, I rarely notice it while it is running and, in fact, it is quieter than the first sous vide cooker I owned.
